You see, every and each one of these categories is absolutely unnecessary. “New subtitles”? Really? (reproduction: ) The problem:
OPEN SUBTITLES HOW TO
As an example for this post, I’m gonna go through the process of searching and downloading the subtitles for the popular show How To Get Away With Murder, S02E01. So, without further ado, let me talk about the two key aspects I’d like to point out regarding OpenSubtitles’ usability. If the user doesn’t spend much time actually looking to your platform, worry less about what it looks like, and focus on getting their job done with ease and simplicity. This is a platform the average user will spend 1 minute on (at best), while they download the subtitles for whatever they’re watching right now, and then only come back in a half hour or so (to download another one) therefore, looks aren’t a major concern here. The user interface is pretty awful as well, but we’re gonna let that alone, for now. The concept behind it is pretty neat, but what is not neat is their user experience. Well, let me just tell you this: if this is your production process, you are not good to go.Įnter OpenSubtitles, a major portal for people to share subtitles (duh) for their favorite shows, movies, and what not. For whatever reason, they just design the interface, connect it with their database and BAM!, they’re good to go. Some websites and apps, on the other hand, don’t do this whatsoever. It doesn’t matter how many things you have to take into consideration, or whether or not you have to make any changes to your current interface in order to improve your user experience as soon as you think as “the user”, you simplify this task.

The hardest part about it, though, is that you have to think just like the user would.
